Part P Electrical Defined Scope Course

Introduction

The CORGI Defined Scope Electrical Scheme has been designed to enable CORGI registered gas installers to meet their requirements under the Building Regulations Part P’ to show their competence, and enable them to join an approved self certification scheme i.e. CORGI “Part P" scheme. Operatives who are not CORGI registered engineers and who carry out work on electrical installations can also sit this assessment it they wish to join the ELECSA “Part P" competent persons scheme as a defined scope operative.

Component Exchange (Core Competence)

ECECA

This is the core assessment which is a prerequisite to the modules below. The course will cover the following subjects:- Applicable Building, Electrical & Safety Regulations Pre-work survey/inspection - Safe isolation procedures - Earthing and bonding requirements - Electrical test procedures - Cable, component and fitting selection - Installation and replacement of electrical components and fittings - recording of electrical test results, completion of certification and notification requirements.

Central Heating Wiring Installation

ECHWIBA

Training and assessment in electrical installation required for central heating. This covers the inspection and testing required for the installation of central heating.

Power Wiring Level B & C

EPWICA & EPWIBA

Installing and/or re-routing cables to form suitable outlet connections e.g. fused spur and to replace damaged cables. Power level C is for addition 6 to an existing system only. Power level B is is for adding a new single power circuit direct from the consumer unit.

Lighting Circuits level B & C

ELWICA & ELWIBA

For the installation and replacement of lighting circuits. Level B & C would include the replacement of a lighting unit and the installation of a new single lighting circuit direct from the consumer unit.

The package is for engineers who carry out work on domestic electrical installations as a secondary task to their main role (Defined Scope). It includes component exchange, central heating wiring and both the power & lighting elements, level B & C.

Part P Full Scope Electrical Course

Level A module to add to above Defined Scope

This module covers the additional areas that are applicable for those moving from the defined scope package above (EDSBCA) to the full scope package below. It covers the additional areas including special locations, new domestic circuits, domestic lighting circuits, maintaining domestic d installations and 3 phase supplies. Combined with the defined scope package this can be used to join the ELECSA "Part P" Full Scope Competent Persons Scheme.

Full Scope Package Level A & B

The package is for any operative involved in the installation of domestic electrical systems who wishes to join the ELECSA  "Part P" Full Scope Competent Persons Scheme.

The course and assessment covers all the 17 competence areas as listed in guidance document for Level A (Qualified Supervisor).

"Part P" On-site Inspection Refresher Course

This course is intended to act as a testing and inspection refresher ahead of an installer undertaking their first "Part P" Competent Person Scheme On-Site Inspection. The course will focus on the testing and certification requirements on domestic systems using our test rigs. Candidates are welcome to bring their own testing equipment if they wish or candidates may use the Megger equipment used in the centre. ALL candidates will have to hold a full scope Level A electrical qualification.
