Lifting Equipment Inspection

Introduction

This course is aimed at personnel who are responsible for acquiring, issuing, storage and inspection of Lifting Equipment & Accessories.

Aims

Provide a Working knowledge of Relevant Legislation.
Improve Attitude & Product Knowledge
Develop Safe Working Practices
Install Safe Methods of Work and Increase Safety Awareness

Objectives

On completion of the course, the trainee will be aware of the safe practices and proper procedures required when inspecting Lifting Tackle & Accessories including recording and keeping of records as required by statutory provision (PUWER & LOLER)

The Course Covers

  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSW Act)
  • The Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regs 1998 (PUWER)
  • The Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regs 1998 (LOLER)
  • Lifting Equipment Engineers Association’s Code of Practice (LEEA)
  • Inspection and Thorough Examination of:
    • Chain slings
    • Wire Rope Slings
    • Flat Web & Round Slings
    • Shackles
    • Eyebolts
    • Chain Blocks
    • Pull-Lifts
    • Tirfors
  • Duties of the Responsible Person; Recording & Keeping of Records

Course Duration

Normally 3 days. Subject to requirements

Venue

On-site at your location – we would need suitable classroom facilities With Desks & Chairs and sufficient room to use a Projector onto a blank wall also workshop type facilities with various Lifting Equipment and other equipment as required.

Certification

Each trainee will have to demonstrate the safe use of the equipment by satisfactorily completing a test of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
