Telescopic Handler Course

Objectives

To train operators to safely prepare, operate and maintain telescopic handlers.

Course Content

At the end of the course, operators should be able to:

  • Operate their machine safely and efficiently on all normal tasks for which the machine was designed for
  • Decide whether a particular load is safe to lift
  • Carry out routine servicing procedures and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
  • Set up the machine correctly using stabilizers
  • Where applicable, prepare and drive the machine on public highways or load it on to a transporter in accordance with the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts

Delegates will learn:

  • The purpose and capabilities of their machine and any relevant safety precautions necessary for its operation
  • How the machine works and its maintenance requirements
  • The effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions have upon machine stability.
  • Loading, storage and transit of representative materials.
  • Basic construction of pallets
  • Permitted loading of scaffolds
