New Fire Safety Laws
From the 1st October 2006 the fire safety law is changing.
If you are:
• Responsible for business premises
• An employer
• Self employed with a business premises
• A voluntary organisation or charity
• A contractor with a degree of control over any premises.
The new fire regulations will affect you!
The fire safety law is being made simpler to help save lives.
The Changes
The law will emphasise preventing fires and reducing risk and if you are a
responsible person it will be your responsibility to ensure the safety of
everyone who uses your premises, and in the immediate vicinity. Fire
Certificates will also be abolished.
You must carry out a fire risk assessment in your premises. The aim is to help
you keep people, and your premises, safe from fire.
