Fire Risk Assessment
Introduction
This course is based on the Fire Reform Act October 2006
Aims
To enable delegates to:
- Carry out a fire risk assessment where there are 5 or more employees and a
record must be kept of signification findings
- Monitor and review the risk assessment – revise as appropriate
- Inform staff or their representatives of the risks
- Plan for an emergency
- Provide staff information and training
- Nominate persons to assist
- Provide and maintain to the extent that is appropriate as determined by
the fire risk assessment
- Means for detecting and giving warning in case of fire
- Means of escape and emergency lighting
- Fire safety signs
- Fire fighting equipment
Objectives
On completion of the course delegates will be able to:
- Carry out a Fire Risk Assessment
- Identify fire hazards and possible sources of ignition
- Remove or reduce hazards
- Identify any staff or persons who are especially at risk
- Decide whether the existing arrangements are adequate
- Record the findings
- Monitor and review on a regular basis
- Up-date on new fire legislation
